| FEBRUARY 8, 2005 FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE FOREST HILLS CHAMBER PLAYERS PERFORM FREE CONCERTS FOR QUEENS COMMUNITY ON THURSDAY, MARCH 17 AT 3:30 P.M. AT QUEENS MUSEUM OF ART; MONDAY, MARCH 21 at 7:30 P.M. AT CHURCH-IN-THE-GARDENS; AND ON SATURDAY, APRIL 16 AT 3:00 P.M. AT QUEENS BOROUGH PUBLIC LIBRARY (QUEENS VILLAGE BRANCH) Program to Include International Works for Flute, Violin, and Cello The Forest Hills Chamber Players will present a program of solos, duos, and trios for flute, violin, and cello on Thursday, March 17 at 3:30 p.m. at the Queens Museum of Art, New York City Building, Flushing Meadows Corona Park. The program will be repeated on Monday, March 21 at 7:30 p.m. at the Church-In-The-Gardens, 50 Ascan Avenue, Forest Hills and on Saturday, April 16 at 3:00 p.m. at the Queens Borough Public Library, Queens Village Branch, 94-11 217th Street. The ensemble, consisting of flutist Tanya Dusevic Witek, violinist Krystof Witek, and cellist Katherine Cherbas, will play music by the Brazilian composer, Heitor Villa-Lobos, tangos by Argentina’s renowned Astor Piazolla, and a work by the Norwegian composer Johan Halvorsen, based on a theme by Georg Fredrich Handel. The mission of the Forest Hills Chamber Players is to provide free, high-quality performances to the underserved audiences of the outer boroughs. Tanya Dusevic Witek, Krystof Witek, and Katherine Cherbas met as students at The Juilliard School and have collaborated for nearly ten years, performing and recording works ranging from Bach to Zorn, Broadway tunes to Led Zeppelin. As Queens residents with the desire to bring quality and accessible performances to the underserved audiences of the outer boroughs, they recently established the Forest Hills Chamber Players. Performances by the Forest Hills Chamber Players are all free and are held in the heart of the community, at senior centers, churches, schools, and museums. The musicians are passionate about helping their listeners establish deeper connections with classical music, and often incorporate commentary and educational components into their concerts. The members of the Forest Hills Chamber Players have performed across the globe and at such local venues as Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, and the theaters of Broadway. Their performances have been broadcast on CBC Radio in Canada, BBC3, Radio France, as well as WNPR, WNCN, and WNYC in New York, and they have been seen on the NBC, PBS, and Bravo television networks. |
